A Word Concerning Who We Are
The 1995 Oklahoma City bombing was the catalyst that led to the founding of The 1687 Foundation. It was the desire of Woody and Patti Wood to reach people suffering in the aftermath of that deadly event. Their response to the devastation led them to donate several boxes of Christian books to people in the area. Shortly after that first donation, a full-fledged Book Ministry began as they saw the need for the distribution of Christian books for many other purposes across the nation. At that point, The 1687 Foundation was established.
The Book Ministry has grown to a scale only God knew about since then. It has touched millions of lives for the Kingdom of God with the distribution of free, Christian books and resources.
The 1687 Foundation now includes: The Book Ministry, The Retreat Program, The Hunting & Fishing Ministry and Woody's Classic Cars and Baseball Museum.
As God has provided, our ministries and programs each gift various, free resources and support to share God’s great love and compassion to those in need so that they might develop a desire to know Him more.
We are called to support other 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. These include organizations that serve: first responders, the military, police officers, firefighters, and those that provide disaster relief efforts, prison ministries, healthcare facilities, special needs, foster care programs, at-risk populations, homeless shelters, food banks and soup kitchens.
To God be the Glory.
